Day 4

On Saturday I took my youngest son Spencer to see Santa Claus at the local WalMart.  (Just a note that Spencer has Down Syndrome, and is AMAZING!)  We were lucky that there wasn’t much of a line as it was toward the end of the time they were going to be there, Spencer was dying to get close to Santa.  There was also a Mrs. Claus with Santa and she was truly a Christmas gift.  Spencer is very outgoing, social and charming…he LOVES Santa, we watch Christmas shows year round.  Spencer was saying Ho Ho Ho, hugging Santa, kissing Santa, talking to him about the reindeer, and I noticed that Mrs. Claus had teared up.  After the photos were taken, Mr. and Mrs. Santa walked around with us a little bit at Spencer’s urging…Mrs. Claus thanked me for bringing Spencer that day, in the 7 years she has been doing this, she has never been as touched by a child as she was with Spencer.  What a wonderful gift she gave me…I couldn’t ask for a better “one good thing.”

Day 3

It is not as easy to post every day as I thought it might be, but I am definitely keeping track of my one good thing, and will add them as time permits.  On Friday I was talking to my oldest son about what he wanted to get his girlfriend for a Christmas gift…he wasn’t sure.  I asked him if he would like me to make her a scarf or hat, and he HUGGED me and said “yes Mom, that would be nice, thank you.”  Now that is an awesome thing!

Day 2

I was hoping to get on last night to blog about my one good thing for yesterday, but I was asked by my DH to ride along with him on his last delivery.  I am very glad that I decided to go along, as it ended up being my one good thing.  :)   I love spending time with him – anytime, but it is very nice once in awhile to have time without kids and dogs and cats and other regular things going on all around us…it was a very good thing.

This morning I was texting my dh, who was at work…I was telling him about something that had happened this morning, and I wrote “that’s one good thing that happened today”, which made me think.  I am always stressing over the bad things that happen in life, but I’d bet there was at least one good thing that happened every day that didn’t get much attention.  Granted, noticing a tire is flat before you drive on it is a small thing, but it’s definitely a good thing.

I decided right then to keep a journal and write down at least one good thing that happens to me every day.  In this day of internet acces with MySpace, Face Book, Twitter, etc., I figured a blog would be a better idea.  Maybe there are other people who feel the same way and can be inspired to do the same.

So, this blog is where I will keep track of “at least one good thing” that happens to me every day.  Maybe if I am concentrating on the good things, the bad things won’t seem quite so bad.

My one good thing today is obviously that my neighbor noticed the tire on my truck was flat, before I drove anywhere on it…my dh definitely thought that was a good thing!
